September's Blog Hop

Welcome to September's Blog Hop.  This month's theme is 'Autumn Colours'

You should be joining me from Sarah's blog.  if you missed it, here's the link: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/hom...

I had lots of fun with this month's theme, even though as usual, I left it to the last minute!  Not as last minute as it now feels, as I have just spent an hour and a hour half writing this blog, pressed save, and it didn't save, therefore I had to do it all again, sooooo frustrating!!!

For my 'Autumn Colours' I chose to use the following colours:

Fresh Fig, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and the retired Delightful Dijon and Watermelon Wonder.  I think I used all of these in all my cards this month.

My first card was created using the Aqua painter's and the 'Beautiful You' stamp set.  I watercoloured the background, stamped, then used adhesive gems (non SU), and backed with Watermelon Wonder cardstock (retired)

I love this effect, and have used it before, but I thought these colours would work well.  Quite a simple, easy card to produce.

My second and third cards are made with the 'Marbled' stamp and the 'Happy Birthday' thinlit.  I had a discussion with my daughter Georgie about this one, we both came up with a different method, so I tried both.

I like this effect!  I inked up the stamp with Old Olive, then sponged the rest of the colours onto the stamp.  I used Delightful Dijon to die cut the Happy Birthday and Watermelon Wonder cardstock for the leaves using the Seasonal Layers thinlits, topped with retired adhesive pearls.

Georgie's idea was to sponge four colours onto the cardstock, then I used Fresh Fig on the stamp and stamped over.  I then used Hobbycraft gold glitter card for the sentiment, backed with Fresh Fig and added old olive glitter dots.  Georgie prefers things more symmetrical than me, hence the different finish.

Unfortunately, the photo isn't great quality, I need to improve this.

The next card I made with the Eastern Palace suite.  I absolutely love this, and I can't believe I wasn't fussed when it first arrived.  It is so versatile!  I used all five colours and two of the thinlits.

I had an idea that didn't quite work out also.  I used the Aqua painters on the 'Woodland' embossing folder.  It didn't work, but could with a bit of work and tweaking!  Here is my first attempt;

My last card this month, started off as a different idea.  The original plan was to try out the 'Eclipse' technique.  I don't have the letter dies, and can't decide if I want to part with so much money to buy them, so thought I would try stamping a scene and die cutting leaves from the 'Seasonal Layers' framelits.  But, once I had stamped, I liked it so much I wasn't sure I wanted to chance ruining it by cutting into it, so I left it as it was.

I finished off by backing with Delightful Dijon.

I hope you enjoyed my blog.  I need to improve my camera work (maybe not use my phone).  Thanks for visiting.  Happy crafting,

Lynn x
